PREPARING FOR YOUR ACS TREATMENT

How to prepare:

Before your ACS session

  • Hydrate prior to your procedure.
  • You don't have to wash your hair before your procedure. Instead plan to wash your hair the evening of your procedure.
  • Do put any product in your hair.
  • Avoid fatty foods the day of your procedure
  • If you have a history of headaches, take Tylenol 1 hour prior to your appointment
  • Let us know if you are anxious about blood draws or needles.

Understand steps of the procedure

  • Blood draw. We'll collect one once for every kit.
  • Process blood in centrifuge to separate plasma from cells as well as separate red blood cells from white blood cells and platelets.
  • Isolate and active platelets and white blood cells (wound healing cells).
  • Determine which areas of scalp we are treating with high, medium or low white blood cells
  • Numb your scalp. Approximately 5 minutes of discomfort while injecting anesthesia, but then you'll be numb for the rest of the procedure.
  • Inject platelets and white blood cells into scalp.
  • Wash and style hair.

After your procedure

  • Follow the massaging protocol to avoid facial swelling. Massage every other hour while awake for 3 days. Massage any bumps totally flat.
  • You may shower the night of your procedure, but use luke warm or colder water.
  • Only take Tylenol for discomfort.
  • Try to avoid anti-inflammatories like NSAIDS or steroids for entire treatment course (usually 6 months)
  • Return to normal activity the follow day (exercise, hair products, topical hair treatments, etc.)
