Most companies offer finasteride. Our topical uses dutasteride. Here's why that matters.

In a study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, researchers found that a 5mg per day dose of dutasteride reduced DHT levels by approximately 98.4 +/- 1.2 percent. In comparison, finasteride lowered DHT by 70.8 +/- 18.3 percent when used at the same dosage. In short, the study showed that dutasteride may be more effective at blocking DHT levels than finasteride.
A Research study published by the National Library of Medicine showed dutasteride to be more efficacious than finasteride at improving thick hair counts, with comparable side effect profiles.

  • Dutaseride works to prevent the conversion of testosterone into DHT, which is the primary hormone linked to hair loss.

Side effects are more common when dutasteride is taken orally. When dutasteride is applied topically like it is in our treatment, less than 1% of patients have reported experiencing sexual side effects.

Dutasteride and Finasteride are both medications that block the conversion of testosterone into Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which is the main hormone that contributes to hair loss. Dutasteride is thought of to be the second generation of finasteride, as it is more effective at blocking DHT. Clinical studies have shown that dutasteride is 24% more effective at blocking DHT than finasteride.
