Hair restoration care that doesn't require driving downtown

The Clarendon Hills office offers the full Northwestern Hair service line. Patients are evaluated here for hair transplantation, non-surgical hair restoration, and medical hair loss management. Every plan is built around the patient’s individual case — donor capacity, trajectory of loss, and the medical contributors that may be driving it. Appointments book online, and patients can move between Northwestern Hair locations as their plan calls for it.

Hair Restoration for Men in Deerfield

The Clarendon Hills consultation evaluates the cause of hair loss and future loss patterns then recommends the treatment that fits the case. Hair transplantation physically relocates growing hair to where it’s needed. ACS, the non-surgical option, addresses the cases that respond to non-surgical work before, or instead of, surgery. Medical management prevents loss.

FUE Hair Transplant Consultation

Hair transplantation is the most definitive of treatments allowing one to physically move hair into the area of loss. Northwestern Hair is known for its advanced technique, Micro PUE, a refinement of standard FUE built to produce healthier grafts and more natural results than traditional FUE hair transplants.
The Clarendon Hills consultation aims to comprehensively plan the procedure to save the patient a trip downtown. Dr. Vinay designs each Northwestern Hair hairline himself to ensure a natural-looking outcome.
The hair transplant procedure itself happens at our main Chicago location, where state-of-the-art facilities support the advanced techniques utilized in the procedure

ACS Non-Surgical Hair Restoration

For men whose hair loss is less severe and may respond well to non-surgical care, Autologous Cellular Serum (ACS) is Northwestern Hair’s preferred option. ACS is a technique Dr. Vinay adapted from orthopedic surgery, and it has transformed non-surgical care at Northwestern Hair, becoming a genuine alternative to surgery, and for the right candidate, sometimes the better answer.
The ACS protocol includes 4 in-office treatments over 6 months, with results often appearing after the first session. For most men, ACS is a definitive long-term plan when combined with medical management to maintain gains and prevent further loss. Approximately 15% of men require maintenance treatments every 9-24 months.
ACS treatments are available at the Clarendon Hills office and do not require a trip downtown.

Medical Hair Loss Treatment

Medical management has the most leverage when a man comes in early. FDA-approved medications, prescription protocols, the right over-the-counter agents, and nutritional adjustment can significantly improve hair and prevent loss. The components are standard. What turns them into a working regimen is the structured monitoring that adjusts the protocol against what each case is actually doing.
The vast majority of medical treatments at Northwestern Hair are managed from home. Patients can order medications, treatments, and devices directly through Northwestern Access and have them delivered to their door. Follow-ups can be done virtually, or in person at the Clarendon Hills office, whichever you prefer.

Hair Restoration for Women in Clarendon Hills

Women’s hair restoration plans are built across years, and they almost always combine treatments in ways that men’s plans don’t have to. Donor capacity is smaller, surgical candidacy is more nuanced, and the course of female hair loss moves on a longer timeline. Underneath all of that, women’s hair loss is more often connected to identifiable medical contributors: hormonal shifts, thyroid changes, iron status, the metabolic patterns that present differently in women than in men. The Clarendon Hills consultation is set up to address those layers directly. Dr. Volmir’s workup runs alongside Dr. Vinay’s hair restoration evaluation, in the same office.

FUE Hair Transplant Consultation for Women

A hair transplant is a real option for women, and the criteria that determine candidacy look different from men’s. The right candidate has stable donor density, a clear pattern of loss, and goals that match what surgical work can credibly deliver. Surgery suits a specific subset of women’s cases — localized thinning along the part line, defined recipient zones, or hairline restoration in cases where the donor area supports it. The consultation moves through donor evaluation, hairline design, graft count projection, and pricing the same way it does for men, but candidacy assessment is more conservative because female pattern hair loss often calls for medical and regenerative work alongside surgery, or in place of it. Many women feel more confident moving forward once candidacy and likely outcomes are clearly defined.

The honest version of the consultation is that for many women, the answer is not surgery — at least not yet. For the women who are candidates, Dr. Vinay designs and performs the procedure at our main Chicago location, applying the same hairline architecture and aesthetic judgment that defines every Northwestern Hair transplant.

ACS Non-Surgical Hair Restoration

Some of Northwestern Hair’s strongest outcomes in female patients have come through ACS. Patients experiencing diffuse thinning, early-to-moderate female pattern hair loss, the cases where the thinning has begun but transplantation is premature. The non-surgical protocol works on follicles that are still alive but functioning below capacity, and in the right cases, the treatment produces restoration substantial enough to delay surgery for years or remove it from the plan entirely. In the right case, this can support natural growth without moving immediately to surgery.

Medical Hair Loss Treatment for Women

Early intervention is where medical care does most of its work for women. The first months after delivery, the opening stretch of perimenopause, female pattern hair loss before significant density has been lost, these are the moments when a regimen has the most to give the case.
Dr. Vinay manages the medical regimen directly and adjusts based on response across the months that real treatment takes.

The Hair Loss Experts at Our Clarendon Hills Clinic

Northwestern Hair was founded on a clinical conviction: hair restoration alone, however good the work, can only do so much when something upstream is shaping the case. At Clarendon Hills, that something is medical such as the hormonal patterns, thyroid function, iron status, and metabolic and lifestyle factors that determine whether the hair can grow well at all. The clinic is hosted by Lifelong Health, the concierge primary care and longevity medicine practice Dr. Kate Volmir founded. The same model defines our other satellite clinics: each is built around a specialist whose practice handles a different dimension of hair loss. Collaborators travel between our clinics as patient plans require, so a Clarendon Hills consultation can connect patients with the trichology, hair replacement, and pigmentation specialists at our other locations.

About Dr Vinay

-

Dr. Vinay Rawlani founded Northwestern Hair Restoration as a single-domain practice — a clinic where hair loss and hair restoration are the only work, where the techniques the practice runs on were developed by the physician each patient consults with. He’s board-certified, with training in plastic surgery and hair restoration from Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. The two innovations that have come out of his work, Micro PUE for hair transplantation and ACS for non-surgical care, were both built around the same observation: that hair restoration alone, however well executed, can only do so much for a patient whose loss is driven by something upstream.
The collaboration with Dr. Kate Volmir at Lifelong Health came out of that observation. The vast majority of hair loss has medical drivers behind it: hormonal patterns, thyroid function, iron status, the metabolic patterns that shape how hair grows and stops growing. These contributors fall outside the scope of most hair restoration practices. Dr. Vinay built the Clarendon Hills collaboration to make that medical workup available alongside the hair restoration consultation, in the same office.

About Dr. Kate Volmir

-

Board-certified Internal Medicine physician and founder of Lifelong Health, the concierge primary care and longevity medicine practice in Clarendon Hills that hosts Northwestern Hair’s clinical days. Dr. Volmir’s contribution to the Clarendon Hills consultation is the medical workup of the underlying contributors to hair loss – hormonal evaluation, thyroid workup, iron and B12 management, the metabolic and lifestyle factors that often drive hair loss and that most hair restoration practices don’t investigate.
Beyond her core Internal Medicine practice, Dr. Volmir has trained in lifestyle, functional, and longevity medicine, and in peptide and regenerative therapies. The combination is what makes the integrated consultation work: hair restoration evaluation paired with the medical assessment that surfaces what’s driving the case in the first place.

Frequently Asked Questions

About our Deerfield Hair Restoration Clinic

Is the hair transplant procedure performed at the Deerfield clinic?

No. The FUE hair transplant procedure is performed only at Northwestern Hair Restoration’s flagship in Chicago, where the surgical environment and trained surgical team are. Consultation, planning, ACS non-surgical hair restoration, medical hair loss treatment, trichology, hair systems, and post-procedural follow-up all happen in Deerfield. The surgical day is the single trip downtown.

Northwestern Access is the at-home pathway Dr. Vinay built into the practice for patients whose case is best managed remotely. It’s appropriate for cases that don’t require in-person evaluation — hormonal workup, thyroid evaluation, iron repletion, ongoing medical management — and for patients who live outside Access’s coverage area. For cases that call for surgical evaluation, ACS consultation, or hairline design, an in-person visit to the Clarendon Hills clinic is the right starting point.

Insurance does not typically cover hair transplantation or most hair restoration treatments, as hair loss is generally considered a cosmetic condition. We provide invoicing so patients can submit to their insurance directly when applicable. Treatments are HSA- and FSA-eligible where the patient’s plan allows. The medical workup with Dr. Volmir may be billable to insurance separately as primary care, depending on the patient’s plan; this is confirmed at booking.
