How to plan a hair transplant procedure around your wedding.

Video Transcript

So you’re a guy and you’re about to get married. You’re wondering if you can get a hair transplantation in time for your procedure. Well, there are two parts to this question that we need to answer to make sure that you’re making the right choice. Number one is when you’re going to heal and number two is when are you going to see your results?

In the first scenario, if you’re getting hairs only placed into your crown in your mid scalp, such that no one can see you looking straight at your face, you can pretty much get a hair transplantation whenever you want. Now, remember we do buzz the back and sides of your head very, very short for your hair transplantation. That may take 10 to 21 days to grow out to an acceptable length for a wedding, however, it is always possible. While you’re waiting for your hairs to grow into place, it’s relatively inconspicuous. No one’s really going to notice. However, it’s not until the 12 month mark that you may start seeing results and the 18 month mark where your results are looking pretty natural.

If you’re getting hairs placed in your crown, you can definitely make it to your wedding within 10 to 21 days with a good haircut, but you probably want to wait for a full 18 months if you want to see the final result. If you’re getting hairs placed into the hairline, it’s a little bit different because it’s hard to hide those hairs during the growth phase. Remember, you go through a transplantation, you’ll get a buzz cut on the back and sides. It’ll take a while for those hairs to grow out. However, now we place these hairs in to a point where people can see them. There’ll be scabs there for 10 days. There will also be small little hairs there for about a month. And then, the skin can remain red for one to three months.

The hairline is a little bit different. In this case, we’re going to be implanting grafts in a place that’s not so inconspicuous. You’ll get the same haircut, a short buzz cut on the back and sides. They’ll be ready for a wedding within 10 to 21 days. However, you’ll have little scabs on your hairs that you’ll see for 10 days. Those small hairs will also stay present for up to one month’s time before they fall out. As your hair start to grow back in, anywhere between four and 12 months, there will be some stubble and it won’t be until 18 months mark that you can say your results are fully in. If you’re planning on a front hairline transplant, we do recommend that you have the procedure at least 18 months before your wedding.
