What are the limitations of a Discrete FUE?

Video Transcript

Hello, everybody. It’s Dr. Vinay Rawlani from Northwestern Hair. In today’s video, I want to talk to you about the limitations of Discrete. If you go back to Micro FUE, we talked about limitations there. And really the only limitation was that it’s not really available outside of many places in the country. Discrete does actually have some technical limitations that can impact your procedure and it’s very easy to understand these.

In Micro FUE, we get to shave the entire back and sides of the hair. But what it allows us to do as the technical team is to identify the hairs we want. Remember hairs come in different thicknesses. They come in different groupings. They can have one, two, three, or four hairs. Those groupings are very important to where we place them in your scalp. In the front hairline, we only want single hairs so you have the perfect natural look. We don’t want any sprouts, triples or quadruples, which can look like a mini plug. But as we get to the back of the hairline, having two, three, four hair grafts are great because you’re going have more density.

In a Discrete procedure, man, that visibility really goes away. Once you can’t buzz the back of the head, you are looking through a forest to find the exact hair. The procedure takes significantly longer, obviously uses a different technology, but that really does increase the cost because it is quite a bit of work. However, if it’s important to you to be in front of a camera the next day or be at work in a couple days, then absolutely we can do a Discrete procedure and maybe it’s fit for you.
